Throwback Time!
Beni Hanna Nishikigoi is an exciting new chapter in our journey! While our first batch of koi was spawned in 2018, our story began much earlier. We have been dedicated to koi farming in New Jersey since 2001. Check out a video featuring our Mat McCann at the Old Quality Koi Farm, brought to you by Brady Brandwood!"

Do we seem familiar?

You might remember our New Jersey Koi farm from the episode when TANKED paid us a visit! Here’s a snapshot of Mat with the TANKED crew during the old FarmFun Day!

Media Highlight: The Groundbreaking Story of "Four Step Rose"

As Featured on Animal Planet’s A Pet Story (2001)

At Quality Koi Company, our dedication to the health, artistry, and preservation of Nishikigoi has occasionally made television history. One of our proudest and most memorable milestones took place in 2001, when the nation fell in love with a very special fish: "Four Step Rose."

A Medical Milestone for the Koi Community

Rose, an exquisite, high-grade Kohaku owned by our founder Joseph Zuritsky, developed a serious and mysterious growth on her side. Deeply concerned for her well-being, our team sought the finest medical minds available, ultimately partnering with the world-renowned University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine (Penn Vet). [1]

Led by pioneering aquatic veterinarian Dr. Scott Weber, the medical team performed a highly advanced, experimental surgery to successfully treat the mass. Documented step-by-step by a television crew from Animal Planet’s hit series A Pet Story, the episode broadcast the complex world of high-end aquatic medicine into millions of living rooms, demonstrating to the world that these living works of art are deeply cared-for companions. Mat McCann: The Trusted Handler

An operation this delicate required expert precision long before the first incision was made. Our very own Mat McCann served as Rose's dedicated handler and caregiver throughout the entire high-stakes process.

From managing her delicate transit to the university clinic, to monitoring her complex sedation, and carefully handling her in and out of the specialized aquatic surgical tables, Mat’s hands-on expertise ensured Rose stayed stable under pressure. His tireless efforts behind the scenes and in front of the cameras showcased the exact standard of elite, meticulous care that defines our farm to this day.

A Lasting Legacy

Rose’s story concluded as a triumphant success, proving that with the right devotion, even the most challenging aquatic health crises can be overcome. Though Rose is no longer with us, her historic journey remains an indelible part of our heritage. We carry the same passion, strict quarantine standards, and elite care into breeding the next generation of American-bred champions.
